If I have to read another fake celebrity death or the same "The Planets will align and hordes of unicorns will roam the forrests!" story I swear I'm going to beat someone with an encyclopedia... or the Wikipedia app loaded on a tablet at least...

Agreed. As much as I don't want anyone controlling what I or others post, enough is enough. People are gullible when it comes to "if it's on the internet it must be true". I debunk a story almost on a daily basis on my friend's posts. You would think that common sense and a Google search will prove it wrong, but people just want to sensationalize what they see without checking.

Well, this also can turn into a bad thing by not allowing the over view to be heard. Facebook has been known to tilt left. For example, if a liberal flags a truthful story to be wrong and say... CNN says it is wrong, will they--Facebook-- take the truthful article down? I sure hope not...

I suppose it CAN be abused in a way if you want to censor certain stories (getting enough no-lifes no flag it as a hoax), but that's just going out of your way to bring down a specific source I think.

Hopefully they can implement a somewhat Google-esque quicksearch to how many links redirect to the story and tag is as being "true".

Besides, there is a huge difference between saying "that's NOT how that happened" to "this never happened at all". I don't think they would flag as hoax a story where they state a celebrity died as opposed to flag it because they got wrong HOW that celebrity died (one being that his/her death is true enough, just not as the news reports it).
