More Iden?

I kind of thought the idea was to migrate current iden users to cdma, not build up more iden coverage.

Sprint will send a message if they really build out more iden. That message is that iden is going to be around for quite some time.

Its probably not going to be all that easy to migrate iden customers and sprint may have realized that. They might also realize that iden needs better coverage in the short term. There are a lot places that i've been to where iden coverage is rather poor.

I thought it was only the spectrum that was going back to government, doesn't Sprint get to keep the infrastructure?

There's only one place that I've read that the government was buying the iDEN network was sprintpcsinfo.com. There are a few other places, but they quote the same article. Not that I'm saying the information is wrong, but a few more sources and details would be a lot more useful and make the whole store sound believeable.

The DoD will be buying the network to overhaul its secure communications. Dual network handsets will be issued to customers of Sprint (iDen/CDMA) as iDen becomes restricted and CDMA takes its place.

Sprint's message all along has been this: iDen isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

IDEN will be gone in 2010 but they do need to do something for the next 5 years to keep their customers as bad as service can get sometimes in certain areas. My opinion??
