You CAN adjust the sound

There's a control in the Accessories folder called Audio Enhancement. You can adjust the phone speakers in three categories: Surround Sound, Bass and Clarity. You can adjust all those for the headset, too, plus a control called Speaker Size. These adjustments are surprisingly effective and you can really improve the sound of the music with them.

Yes, but they are not part of the media player, and are only found after digging around into menus and subfolders.

I didn't think they were that effective. I tested them on my S9s as well as the external speakers. The sound was worse when used with any of the audio "enhancements."

Very unscientific tests ("Can you hear me better on this phone, or this one?") revealed no difference in call quality between Q9M, LG VX550 and VX9900.

It has slowed down a few times even after all runnings apps were closed, necessitating a reset. Maybe I'm just impatient, coming from a stripped-down Palm PDA OS...

Yeah, it would be nice if the audio controls were in the media player. But I see some value in applying them to the entire device, too. I think having two volume controls is a pain, for example. (In the media player and for the whole device. Three, if you count the headset volume control.)

I like the sound better with the bass and clarity bumped up, but it's just a personal preference.
