This is the first review I have read which said the signal strength was low. Can this be confirmed by any other users?

I am not a moto q9m fan boy but I don't notice any major signal differences over the black q that I had. Call quality is great and the keyboard is superb over the last q. To be honest, my q9m is resembling blackberry like quality especially with my emails coming as frequenlty as they do. I do use the phone very frequenlty for data and voice. Can't wait till they put vz nav on this. . . .

We tested two separate Q9M's to verify the signal issue. We tested both in various locations in northern NJ and NYC. Side by side with two other Verizon phones, both Q9M's in our possession had two bars when both other phones had 5. We can't explain it. When we spoke to Motorola, they said they have seen stellar performance from the Q9M with respect to signal strength and voice quality.

If that is true in my area (Boston)then that would be a deal breaker for me. A new phone should not have an inferior signal.

Could that be a possibilty? I have been in wireless sales for a little over 4 years. I have seen on rare circumstances, customers getting more than 1 of the exact same device malfunction. For example, a bad shipment of phones, or software glitchs.

Most of us knew of the issues when the original Q came out and then when the 2nd software upgrade was introduced, the device became more tollerable. Could this be another repeat of the original?

Unlike baseball with the 3 strike rules, phone sales are a little different. If this phone flops, I beleive this will be the end of Motorola's PDA line, and could even cripple Motorola's name, IMHO. Customers will not keep buying a device that hasn't served a purpose more than a paper weight that pla...

I'm sad to say that I am on my 4th unit in 5weeks! battery failure on 2 and unit keeps rebooting without me touching it, locks up while receiving my email and drains the battery within 4hours with continued use! 😢

That's not anything inspiring. I have been carrying Motorola phones as well as LG for quite a while now. My opinion is that Motorola just take their loses and withdraw from making PDA's.

I think that Motorola should invest time into making the durability/frame for an updated 815, with the signal strength of the 815. I mean, if it is an issue with music capabilities, then add v-cast music and be done with it.

Sorry to hear that you have been going through the new q9m's like that. But thank you alot for the feedback.

I've had mine for a couple of days now and have had no reception issues. I live out in the country where service is spotty at best and this has been one of the better phones I've had yet. When I took it into the city, in this case Jacksonville FL and Savannah GA, I had great service and data on EV-DO was superb.

Any of the phones I tried in Jacksonville work great. I'm talking anywhere from Arlington, to Orange Park, back to University Blvd and San Jose. But places like Jacksonville where it is flat land and has a dozen or so towers within arms length, you should have excellent service.

I'm just waiting to see how it pans out in the moutains of North Carolina where there are a few towers at most in a given area and where some phones hold better service than others.

Depends, here in the mountains some phones can steadily hold 2-3 bars where some other phones struggle detrimentally.

My girlfriend works in an area that we use a partner tower due to lack of city councils intellegence to let Verizon build. She had the old grey Razr and the new silver. Both wouldn't work at all.

I carried the original Q (Silver and Black) both of which would hold 2 bars in town and would very rarely drop a call or not initiate one. Out in the "sticks" both Q's dropped down to nothing.

My Q's and the other phones I carried not only did the signal out perform her Razr's but the battery life, picture quality, even software beleive it or not surpassed hers.

Hence, why I am not to fond of the Razr's. Now if we wer...
