Just like rollover minutes this sounds a lot better than it is. Sure there are some people out there who are inconstant with how much data is used each month and this would be good for them. But I have done hundreds of account reviews for customers to get an idea of the data they use each month and the vast majority of them are fairly consistent in their usage. So if someone is getting 5 GB of data/month and only uses ~3/month, then why do they need 7 the next month and 9 the next month and 11 the next, etc.

Yes, it is a gimmick - But you can look at this two ways.
1. Families or individuals on a budget, but are using just slightly to moderately under 3GB per month, but well over 1GB may see a benefit now and again, as they can occasionally use a bit more. Holiday, Spring Break, Summer vacations - times when people are notoriously more active, sending photos, sharing memories - these are the times a little more data could come in handy. Why should they do it over a slow throttled connection?
2. Instead of offering people to move the data to a bucket for safe keeping for the next months usage, why not give a credit back? If you have a 3GB plan and used 2GB, why not credit back $5? Or if you had a 5GB plan and only used 3GB, why not credit b...
