It's clear US Cellular can't compete well. The last few years they have made money buy swapping or selling out spectrum and customers to the Tier 1 players. They made like 700 plus million selling spectrum and customers to Sprint then more spectrum to T-mo. I don't want Dish buying T-mo like some people suggest. I want Dish to buy US Cellular and make it a stronger #5 carrier. Dish could even afford to buy it outright and expand it with the spectrum holdings they have plus retail presence they have. Then, Dish and T-mo could strike LTE roaming deal.

Dish does not have the capital to fund a buyout of T-Mobile, or Sprint - but does have it for US Cellular, in addition left over cash to fund and run the company. Technically speaking, CDMA US Cellular is on par with Sprint in terms of roaming and infrastructure, it would make sense for Sprint to buy them, or link up with them, and they actually did and are currently partners. As for T-Mobile, US Cellular holds key 700 A-Block spectrum that T-Mobile wants and needs, and it may make sense from a financial aspect to not only buy US Cellular, even being CDMA (as T-Mo converts CDMA Metro to HSPA overnight) for the spectrum and customers to surpass Sprint - in addition be paid for Sprint roaming customers, but get US Cellular CDMA/GSM to flip to ...

I said Dish has capital to buy US Cellular not T-mo. I said I don't want Dish to buy T-mo. Dish plus US Cellular equals a stronger #5 carrier. We all could benefit from a stronger carrier competing besides T-mo and now Sprint. That's where I mentioned T-mo instead of buying that spectrum from US Cellar just do joint roaming with them on LTE. People need to get the concept of all the regional carriers going away out of the picture. Dish will expand US Cellular. Also, people need to realize US Cellular is not worth as much as people think. If I was Dish I would pay $3-$4 billion max for US Cellular and I bet they will sell.
