Actually, that's all the more reason to migrate to VoLTE using a VOIP solution. This would create a situation where no voice network needs to be maintained, only a single unified data network with the option of making voice calls. This situation would mean valuable spectrum can be more efficiently utilized and used for data when not customers are not demanding that it be used for voice. Once enough customers migrate to using VoLTE handsets, they can begin the process of decommissioning their CDMA...

There's one problem with that...don't forget that the mobile communication is for all intents and purposes an oligopoly, and that allows prices to stay high and the consumer's power relatively limited. In other words, if they want to charge, they will. Just because their resources are suddenly stretched a lot less thin does not mean anything will get better on the consumer's end. What's more likely is more money will go into the mobile company execs...
