nextel18 is just scared his little company is about to get ran over again.

lets see, all 50million+ customers on cingular can walkie talkie each other compared to 17million with nextel. And one of the worst thing about nextel is their coverage, and cingulars walkie talkie feature is waaaaay bigger. check out the map its on all of cingulars towers, which is also bigger than verizon.

nextels walkie talkie is outdated compared to the Kodiaks RTX system cingular is using. some features... real-time availability information (presence), call waiting, and the ability to convert a PTT call to a normal voice call at any time, quick grouping, voicemail, (this is all on walkietalkie feature) and much more, very similar to instant messaging featur...

whats up with these stupid posters who just have a 1 way vision of things and are quite biased? learn how to argue a point instead of just being so bias please, becuase conversation would be a lot better.

i know the last post https://www.phonescoop.com/news/discuss.php?f m=m&ff=1490&fi=446651 is pretty close to this one cept you added some nonsense at the end..

so my response https://www.phonescoop.com/news/discuss.php?f m=m&ff=1490&fi=446682 goes to this one as well.

by the way.. sprint leads in every important metric now.

arpu, data arpu, lifetime revenue per user. also, sprint is leading cingular in subcriber growth for this year. sprint also leads cingular in arpu, data arpu and lifetime revenue per user.

cingular is ...

Coming from the most biased, least informed person on this forum, that is funny.

Oh and he said nothing about any metrics. He said Cingular's PTT is better than Nextel's. So instead of trying to change the subject and compare apples to oranges, why don't you address his point? Probably because he is correct in saying that the old Nextel chirp is old fashioned and out of date compared to Cingular's PTT.

Perhaps when you learn to spell and write well, we'll learn to "argue a point instead of just being so bias please, becuase conversation would be a lot better". Ugh.

Took the words out of my government cheese eating mouth.

I knew that Nextel18 would be all over Phonescoop when Cingular officially announced PTT. I'm sure he's been waiting in his bedroom with a string of quotes and Nextel-skewed stats for this day.

Shouldn't he change his name to Sprint18?

Careful. He didn't particularly like my last comment to that effect. My vote is "yes".

Maybe he will when the Nextel name gets phased out.

"Cingular has joined forces with AT&T Wireless. Welcome to the New Cingular."

"Sprint, together with Nextel. The New Sprint."

See a pattern?

i think it is best before one speaks they should think of what they are trying to say..

this is what you call a flame.

Actually it's called common sense.
And by the looks of it, your bias are no better than lucid's. I don't understand how either of you can judge Cingular's PTT when it was officially launched only a couple of days ago. At least wait until larger amounts of consumers test the system before making the call.

"lets see, all 50million+ customers on cingular can walkie talkie each other compared to 17million with nextel."

That's not quite true, most of those people don't have a walkie talkie capable phones, therefore they cannot walkie talkie each other. All of Nextel's customers have a walkie talkie capable phones and can walkie talkie each other. Nextel will be the PTT leader for a while, Cingular has a chance of beating them, but for a while Nextel will still be the PTT leader. The only way Cingular can catch up is if all of Cingular's customers go out and buy a PTT phone. That's not going to happen. If they start incorporating PTT in every phone you would still have to have people add on the PTT feature on their plans. Of the 50 million plus...

Go Cingy!!!!! Wooooooo!!!! Yeehaw!!!! Take that Nextel!!! Woooo, we're loosing customers like gangbusters, but so what, we now have an inferior PTT solution!!!!! YEAH!!! You thought we were only adding four hundred customers per quarter w/o PTT!!!! Wait till you see how many Nextel people port over!!! YEAH! Woooo!

Sorry about that, no flame war necessary. Cingy is actually a great provider, never had a problem with them when I used to sell them or use them... It did create an internal thing back in the day, though, cuz I sold Nextel service also....

The V557 is not Push to Talk compatible. The only phones announced now are the LG 7200 and Samsung D357. Full release is imminent on the D357, some stores are even selling it now :-\

Dude, you're funny.

50+ million customers? Try virtually none. Think about it.

Over time, things may change. Cingular's PTT will either be successful or it will flop. It's really complicated when you try to analyze it so I'm not going to bother. All I will say is that Cingular will not topple Nextel, at least not in the next several years to come. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either stupid or knows a strategy we haven't heard about.

hmm... looks like my post ruffled some nextel feathers. it was actually just for nextel18 cuz he was dogging cingys ptt.

durr cingys ptt does not have any people on it because it just came out. again duhh... but yes, 50million + have access to it if they choose, and yes they have to get ptt phones ...durr.

but incorrect, nextell ptt is not better, you can read the first post for all the details. and no... cingy is not wasting money in ptt... its not that big a deal, they have other stuff in the works, they just have the money so they spent it. umts 3g is the biggest thing they are working on. im sure they just had a bunch of people calling saying they hate nextels coverage but liked the ptt. so, they got it.

and nextell, all u...

You're missing the point. Saying 50+ million is just ridiculous. First, there's all the customers who recently bought a phone and don't feel like buying another one for a while. Second, not everyone will want a PTT phone. Third, of those who do, the amount of people who will want to have PTT feature will not by the same as those who are capable of having it. Forth, of those who would want it, they would have decide if it's worth it based on who else has the service. What does that leave you with? Nowhere near or ever 50+ million.

With Nextel, every phone is PTT capable and every plan incoporates free PTT minutes (whether it is limited or not). All 17+ million Nextel customers are able to PTT.

Unless Cingular is somehow able to convince...
