Still not as good as sprint's EVDO network

Sprint's EVDO network is much better and faster than verizon's EVDO network. Sprint operates off of the PCS frequency (1900 mhz), which means that you need more towers to create a solid signal since the farther from the tower you are, the slower the EVDO speeds are. Verizon operates on 850 mhz, which means it's automatically not going to have the same speeds as sprint. Sprint's is faster, better, and their powervision phones are better too! At least the samsung a-940 isn't crippled like verizon's a970! However, when it comes down to it, at least it's not GSM!!!! Edge sucjks

Actually I don' like the 1900 MHz freq dat Sprint uses. It definitely has much worse building penetration than the 850 MHz band that some other carriers use.

All else bein' equal, lower freqs = better reception indoors. 🙂

actually 1.9ghz is a little bit better then 800 or 850 becuase it allows faster speeds to get through.. but yea, the highier freq the worse for in-building coverage, but that will change with wifi on phones as well as improving coverage in doors.

i like what verizon is doing though becuase they have their pc-cards that are 800/1.9ghz so they are dual band, but, verizon's DO is horrible compared to sprint's DO. (i have the sprint's DO and a few of my friends have verizon's DO. )

i think it has to deal with that sprint has always been better then verizon with data and data speeds.

remember yes sprint has 1.9ghz but nextel has 800. 🙂

lol...yah but verizon has 3x as many cell cites that offer EVDO, plus once the mediaFLOW comes out it will free up mounds of space on their EVDO network since vcast wont be on there :-p

"yah but verizon has 3x as many cell cites that offer EVDO"

well they started earlier, what do you expect?

sprint has a lot of capacity also. (plus not even counting the nextel's 800mhz band)

dont forget the 2.5ghz band also.
