What a wonderful spy society we live in. Technology used by government and big corporations to monitor every second of you life. 👿

says something like that. People SHOULD be more concerned about the NSA spying on them than some corporation that just wants to advertise to them.

I'm not saying I'm in favor of having advertisers prod into every minuscule facet of your life looking for something to sell you. I'm not. I absolutely abhor what is going on with the way corporations spy on us.

However, it is far worse when a government spies on its own people. This is something that should be obvious to everyone. I am always baffled how people like yourself can be so passive about what the government is doing. It's like you value your freedom so little and then scorn me because I actually do value mine.

What shocks me is that there seem to be a large number of people who agree with the sentiment that if the government does something illegal or immoral, that is okay as long as they get some kind of benefit from it, there are a lot of people who think 'who cares how the government gets its money, or how much money it has, as long as I get my government check every month'

I know. It's very sad that so many people think that way. That's why this country is slowly but surely sinking.

People seem to think the government is there to look out for the little guy. In reality, like most people, they are only worried about themselves and do whatever possible to gain and maintain power. That's why their policies result in more and more people becoming government dependent. They will say the other guy doesn't care about single mothers or whatever and they say they will create these programs that "help" them out. Then these people get dependent on that "free" money and have no choice to continue to vote for the guy promising more and more because they are lead to believe the other guy want's to take it away. They essentially buy votes with tax payer money.

One your point is well taken, and maybe I should have worded it better, or phrased it better. Two, I never scorned you and agree with your reply.

The way you worded it makes it sound like we should be much more worried about companies spying rather than the NSA. I don't think you scorned him though, his response on that seems to be referring to the general response from people who worry more about the goings on of private organizations than publicly funded government.

I guess we don't have much to disagree about here. 😎
