I don't talk about this on this board often, but by education I am actually a mathematician, and the field that I specialize in Algebraic Geometry, which just so happens to be the very field where most of the decryption and encryption is being done, all of modern encryption is based on mathematical principles from Algebraic Geometry, and you may be surprised to learn this, but it actually isn't true that every code can be broken, there are actually a decent number of codes out there that have never been broken, and I don't know if they ever will be. For example, have you heard of PGP or 'Pretty Good Privacy'? It was introduced in 1995, and has still never been cracked. Another code that has never been cracked is GSM....most people don't ...

Question, So quantum computing falls in the realm of nuclear power, as far as, incredibly powerful, but used in the wrong hands could dramatically change the way in which the world operates, as in dystopian society. This seems rather ominous considering that atomic energy requires field specific material and equipment. Whereas computing breakthroughs seem to happen in far humbler environments.
