IDIOTS or BAD REPORTING

The press release is easily misinterpreted. That seems to be the way cellular companies and the media report things to us. This does not mean AT&T is going to replace the Cingular name. If you read careful ( and through my company not to be named, but you figure it out, a newsletter was filed) AT&T was asked by SBC to sell Cingular service in an AT&T branded store. This simply put means AT&T is going retail for GROUND COMMUNICATIONS. To quote "to use the AT&T name to market all the company's products — local, long-distance, wireless, data and video" that simply mean AT&T is going to sell ground communications service and Cingular Wireless ( yes the Cingular branded network) because it makes money and growth for AT&T stock holders and SBC. P...

Sorry procellguy... I think you need to read a little more closely...

In an interview with USA TODAY on Friday, Whitacre left no doubt about his plans. Asked if the company planned to drop the Cingular name in favor of the AT&T brand, Whitacre said, "Yes, we do." Whitacre said AT&T might still use the Cingular name in some markets.

Meaning that....

Mr Whitacre is saying that it will not be Cingular in the long run and the company will drop the Cingular name.....I know it's not worded the greatest but that's what it means. The wireless service will be branded AT&T, not Cingular.

I posted in another thread something similar to this... In certain areas where Sprint (for instance) is a 'local exchange carrier' they have these Sprint stores that sell everything Sprint except for Nextel (for some reason). Sprint PCS, local/LD, internet, & satellite. I want to say in areas where the new AT&T (BLS & SBC) control that's what the stores will be. In the boonies (BFE) where they have no LEC agreement Cingy might stay... I could be wrong but from talking to people that's the way it sounded to me...

I am in the Pacific North West, Oregon. Direct location and btw SBC CEO Ed Whitacre is not the ceo of cingular even though SBC own the majority of stock in the company. Our President and CEO is Stan Sigman who sent a newsletter in responsone to the bad report of the USA Today which seems to know as much as all the other people on this board that are claiming to. at&t is going to be a RESELLER (indirect agent) own by aonther company and sell cingular service. It isn't a hard concept to understand AT&T is going to sell their gound line services long distance, business services etc. and RESELL cingular service under the at&t brand. Its all the same to SBC because they own 60% of our stock and they benefit both ways!!!!! Figure it out.
