It sounds tempting, better than the carriers one? Any opinions?

Well, the last phone that I had insurance on through VZW was $ 8.18 per month, which included the extended warranty plan.
My deductible was $ 169.00 and for two years the premium accumulated total would be $ 196.32. I'd say that I will probably choose Samsung Protection Plus or AppleCare in the future.
I think, and correct me if I wrong, the only problem you'll have going this route is if- your phone is stolen.

you must have gotten an iphone replaced because iphoners are the only ones that are $169, with a $10 charge per month or their highest insurance
almost any other smartphone is $8 per month and $100 to replace, had a samsung phone replaced recently and a family memeber had an iphone replaced, but at the cost samsung is offering its not worth it

Yep, was an iPhone 5.

thought so, not sure about sprint or tmobile's insurnace deductible but the only was is see this worth it is possibly if you have AT&T due to their deductible for the phone being $200 and $7/$10 per month for a claim

Yeah, I didn't realize that there was such a difference between the iPhone and other devices. I mocked up a pre-order at VZW for a Note 4 and they show 8.00 per month for Total Protection with a $ 99.00 deductible. I guess that does make it better than I originally thought- especially since they cover stolen devices as well.

yep and like you mentioned includes the extended warranty if i remember corrently, only bad thing is you have to pay it up front, which i imagine samsung would have you do as well.

ATT insurance is 6.99 a month and starts at a 200$ deductible which lowers every six months up to a year without a claim so say if you have the phone six months with no claim its 150$ then after a year the lowest it'll drop to will be 99$ anyone who's had insurance before they started going this around may or June will retroactively get this benefit too.

Sprints TEP from Asurion service ranges in cost from $8 a month (usually basic feature phones) and $11 for mainly smartphones. They also offer TEP Plus that is $13. Deductibles range from $50 to $200 when replacing it through Asurion.

I dropped the carrier insurance when I got a letter from my credit card company that if I signed up for autopay for my wireless bill with their card, then they would give me a replacement phone if mine was broken, lost or stolen. It cost me no additional charge per month for the insurance, and since I pay off my credit card in full every month I never get any interest charges, plus I earn my credit card rewards points every month too. It was win, win, win, win for me with no apparent downside. Granted, I've never tried to file a claim yet, don't know if they will follow through or not until I try. But at least it doesn't cost me anything extra.

What was your credit card, I want that!
I know some Amex cards offers an additional year warranty for your purchases.
