Once an icon, now a gimmick for lower tier competitors to steer customers their way?

So the iconic iPhone that was touted as the must have item several years back. The "smart phone" that you wanted to be seen with or never caught dead without. Is now a gimmick, a marketing ploy to steer customers away from the big two to the smaller carriers.

I love it! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Enjoy your two year old specs as I enjoy my new Note 4 Edge in the coming weeks.

Why do you care?

Sprint is paying Apple for the phones. What they chose to sell them for is their business.

You have never read the agreement that stores have to sign to be able to carry the iPhone. Everything from price to the location it's displayed in store to marketing is controlled by Apple.

Cost is set up my the carrier. Sprint has sold the iPhone 5c and 5s for cheaper than Apple for over a year now. In regards to having a display, I'm sure Apple has them have their own separate station for it just like Samsung does with their Samsung stores in Best Buy that's broken off from the cell phone areas.

If any pricing anywhere is different it still has to go through Apple first. I used to run several Cricket stores during the time when they were about to get the iPhone and you wouldn't believe the crazy restrictions they have.

And again...

What is the point if all of this? If Apple has to approve Sprint selling the phone for less or giving the phone away. Again---

So what?

I just don't understand the vitriol against Apple.

The point is you said Sprint can decide to sell the device for whatever they want which is not the case.

either way they are still deciding to sell it cheaper whether theyre getting permission from apple to do it or not its still their decision to sell it at that price...thats the real point

If they have to get permission and don't have the final say it is NOT their decision. I cannot find a copy of the contract stores have to sign but here is an article that backs it up. In Taiwan Apple is being fined over that restriction.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/12/26/apple-taiw ... »

"Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) fined Apple Inc $666,700 for restricting the prices charged by local telecom carriers for their iPhone contracts, the first time Apple has been fined for such practices."

but if theyre getting permission to sell it at that lower price, are they or are they not making a decision, yes. they wouldnt need to ask permission for putting it at a differnt price if they didnt make a decision to sell it at a lower price

Or did Apple go to Sprint and say "your not selling enough iPhones so sell them at this price now."?

Also if I made the decision to close my store for the day, asked permission from management, who has the final say on those things, and get turned down then my "decision making" doesn't really mean dick.

A decision that needs approval is a suggestion.

im not gonna argue about it because really its not a big deal theyre selling a phone cheaper, they still made a decision to, if needed, get permission to get a lower price, whether they were suggesting, asking, deciding its all the same someone has to decide to even ask.

so on that note just let it go, its not that serious

But you can't use the Note 4 Edge with one hand. And you can't fit it in your pocket. It so huge. It looks like you are holding a computer to the side of your face to talk to someone.

False. Enable "One-Handed operation on all screens" and with a quick movement of your finger the screen will get smaller and you can reach the whole screen with your thumb. The Note 3 and S5 both have this feature.

But then I could enable the one handed operation on the iPhone 6 Plus as well and reach everything with one thumb as well.

I have not seen if the iPhone 6 plus will have one handed operation or not. It's a feature that Android just released last year so I would think it will still be a while before the iPhone gets it.

double tap on the home button (not pressing in) and it will trigger the one hand use by shifting the screen content down for easier use for one hand.

So then you have a bunch of wasted screen real estate. And still a phone that is way to big to hold or fit into a pocket.

Then don't get a note. But don't get it because you can't use it with one hand because you can.
