as long as the FCC makes carriers use different frequencies, it won't matter.

That statement is dumb in at least 2 ways.
...
Oh? How amazing. My statement is dumb, and yet you don't elaborate on how.
Seriously, any joker can criticize.
I'm not against phone unlocking, it's just a fact that an unlocked phone in the US doesn't mean the same as it does in the rest of the world. You can't take a t-mobile phone, unlock it and make it work on sprint.
...
Sprint? Hell, you can't even make it work (correctly) on at&t.

My T-Mobile iPhone 5s works great on AT&T after I got it unlocked by T-Mobile. 🤨
...
I detest feigned ignorance... 🤨
You know darn well that there is no such thing as a 'T Mobile' iPhone or an 'at&t iPhone' there is only the iPhone, which is the exact same for every carrier on the planet, and they achieve that by including both a CDMA and a GSM radio, and support for a jillion different frequencies. Which is a large part of the reason why they cost so damn much compared to other phones.
There is no such as a carrier branded iPhone, and I'm pretty sure you know this.
But the at&t and T Mobile 3G and 4G networks operate on separate frequencies, which is why when I worked for at&t whenever someone wanted to activate an unlocked T-Mobile phone, I was required to read a long statement about how since the T-Mobile an...

😛 I was just messing around.
You can't even get a Sprint phone to work well with Sprint. 🤣

But MGZ and MGH don't actually mean anything. The abbreviation you're looking for is MHz.

^^^ false, i'm an at&t employee and we aren't required to read diddly squat to anyone bout when they bring their T-Mobile phones to at&t....They cost a'lot because apple is a greedy ass company that copies everything from other companies and claims the work as their own and decides to charge a ton for existing technology and the apple name, the only thing they got going on these days is the iOS stability and even that seems to be going to hell...I tell people just outta habit that the phone may only operate on 2g, most people dont use tmobile phones for the most part they just buy a go phone and go right along. Not all iPhones are technically the same... The sprint one is regional locked so there are different versions of it going out there...

There is a very good reason the FCC has carriers on different frequencies. If you don't know why you shouldn't be commenting..
...
Enlighten me, because there isn't any functional reason why to use different frequencies. If there was, why do all carriers use 1900MHz in some way or another?
Other carriers use the same frequenceis. I.e. : T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T all use the 1700 2100MHz band for LTE.
So, Captain Know it all, what is the reason? Because it seems to me that there is already shared use of some frequencies, so why not with all?
I'm not disputing the idea that some bands are allocated for different uses. But why is that the case with cell bands? 🤨

I agree that this is mostly for show, however the great majority of carriers in the US are MVNO so what I hope this would mean is if I had a Boost Mobile phone I could use it on Sprint or Virgin or Straight Talk or etc.
Since carriers don't make money selling the phones themselves I don't see the carriers including the ability to run on any network built into the phones. So like you said, still wont work good.
