I agree...the phone is super sweet! However, one thing this phone lacks which I feel is quite notable, is the fact that it doesn't do analog, only dual band digital. So that means that people in Montana, Yellowstone, and other areas will be in trouble. Oh well, maybe I'm just over reacting...

The more I think about it, the more I think you may be right, in a sense.

This phone will probably be popular to buisness people as well, and they travel, so then they take Mr. Slickphone with and it doesn't work.....

I know that you can get digital roam easier now than you used to as well, so maybe it won't be as bad.

Not only do no EV-DO phones on Sprint or Verizon have no analog, but if you look at Montana, for example, Sprint is now able to broadcast their native signal on both the former Qwest sites (cities) and on WW/Alltel 800mhz CDMA for a good percentage of that state.

The fact is that both manufacturers and providers want to get rid of analog. It consumes a lot of power (need bigger batteries and antennas) and it uses a lot of spectrum (less users per tower). You can serve 20+ users on 1 analog spot. But with that you loose the only commonality between the 2 schools (GSM & CDMA - iDen does not count because Nextel merged w/ Sprint), well, that is for now. So if you are in the middle of nowhere odds are you will not have a phone.
