why did they decide to way so long to launch it? especially when the Treo 700 is coming out soon.

i'd imagine RIM's hand was involved in that. they just lost a lawsuit and need cash flow. the security was something they had over everyone else but now they'll sell it for profit. just check nokia and sony-ericson

That and also the fact that with Windows Mobile 5.0 coming out it will have native support for the push technology that BB users currently enjoy. This is a way for RIM to put their technology out there even further, opening up more avenues for revenues
