Deliver the futer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's almost 2006 already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I'm waiting, and waiting, and waiting for 2 and 3 megapixel CamPhones. Show me the future.
Actually I never thought it like that though, you have a good point, that 5% of the world's GSM users are here in the states.
Well, hopefully Summer 06 there will be better handsets here.
Cingular:50 million
T-Mobile; 20 million?
Who else?
So what, are they bumming off of Cingular's tower's, I doubt they have they're own?!?!?

US is still has more subscibers than any other market in the world. Overseas, the subscribers are spread out over many, many geographical markets. Plus its not 5%. There's about 200 million subscribers in the US. 200 million out of a billion makes 20%.
I am talking about GSM alone. There are a lot more than 1 billion subscribers world wide when you include CDMA, old TDMA users, iDEN, and WCDMA. In the us, there is approx. 70 million GSM users, out of OVER one billion world wide. That is less than 7%.
I'm not saying that the unlocked phone market is bad or anything, it is just for the geeks. The average customer is going to want the backing of their carrier.

So, when that unlocked phone blows up, and is technically under warranty, where do you take it?
the manufacturer. they all have contact numbers for support.
raulr said:Have to disagree totally. My two previous phones were the SE Z600 and Ericsson T39M, neither released with a carrier in the US but I have sent them to SE in North Carolina for upgraded firmware or to fix problems when they arose.
Just about every manufacturer won't provide warranty repair on a phone that is not authorized for sale in a given market (i.e. overseas phones in the US).
Didn't matter the phone was unlocked. What do you think Cingular does with a phone when you bring it into the, hand you a new one and ship the other back to the manufacrturer.
