I DON'T TRUST Verizon, they disable features, they're toooooooooo, too controlling of they're handsets, and here are some links for you Verizon loyalists. Phones cost TOO MUCH $$$ to be having features disabled.
These Verizon customers cry out! ! ! !:
1. "Help! I've tried hacking my phone's seems/menus/files and now it won't boot!"

2. "I'm pissed that Verizon crippled the v710. Is there anything I can do?"

I agree that VZW shouldn't cripple bluetooth. Indications are that the 6256i will be released for Verizon with full bluetooth functionality, which would set a very good precedent. Guess we'll see. 🙂

In any case, I'm loyal to Verizon and not Cingular because Verizon doesn't drop my calls, screw up my bills or give me surly CS folks to deal with, and gives me coverage nearly everywhere. Guess you gotta go with your priorities.

This coming January, I will have been with Cingular for 4yrs, I don't have any problem placing, or recieving calls, and in almost 4yrs, I only had one screwed up bill, I called them up, said "Fix my bill!", and in one phone call, they fixed it,

BUT, since Cingular has taken soooooooooooooo,
sooooooooooo, LONG to deploy a 3G network, and I am sucha big fan of mobility, I do have wireless internet with Verizon, but like I said in a previous thread, whoever is first with average speeds, NOT bursts, of 1.5mbps, that's who I go with, and stay with, as with voice, for the time being I will stay with Cingular b/c of rollover, and continue to monitor future handsets, as of Oct.30 I am not under contract, so I will continue to minitor Verizon ha...

Verizon's already got a 2 megapixel cameraphone out... the Samsung A970.

It also can do hour-long videos, and yup, it has EVDO.

Please tell me more about this 6256i, is this a Nokia, or Motorola handset, I'd like to research it some, of course I'll have to wait til after it comes out, and see what actual owners of it have to say, reviews, both on phonescoop, and cnet. Heck, these mobile phones are very expensive, and I want to make sure I get my $$$ worth.

Its basically the already released 6255 (Metro PCS and a couple of others have it) Nokia CDMA flip phone. Tons of features, and its getting great user reviews:

It is by all accounts a great phone, so the question then becomes... how much will Verizon mess with it? We'll see. The manual says they didn't cripple the BT, but like everyone else, I need the release to confirm that.

Its also supposed to be due out 10/23 at Best Buys nationwide (with corp stores presumably to follow), but one could see that date slipping into November. If it ain't out by Thanksgiving weekend, then it will have missed the Xmas buying season an...

Those are the exact reasons I use Verizon as well...but I'm skeptical of the 6256i's bluetooth implementation. You'd figure they'd do just what you've said after the recent court settlement. We'll see.
