they arent closing down because of poor smartphone sales, they are closing down because of the growing market in the internet especially regarding the stuff they sell...why should I spend 200+ on an antenna at RS when i can buy the same one online for 125 with free shipping? GG radioshack, GG

Well since they make more profit on one fully qual'd activation than they do on everything else they sell that day, phone sales are definitely the reason they are failing. Although that comes back to poor management and not properly training your sales people. Bad sales, poor inventory, awful return rates, try this phone and bring it back tomorrow, that's why they are failing.

RadioShack is often the only electronics store for miles, and believe it or not, many people in the US still do not use the internet to buy things. Then some that do use the internet still want to walk in and buy something sometimes, not place an order. Its not amazon killing RadioShack, its RadioShack killing RadioShack.

I used to work for RS and saw many times customers would price match items with their phones and end up walking out empty handed, and we arent allowed to use any kind of even mildly aggressive sales techniques unless the cmr asked specific questions. I quit that job so quick.
