...they'd get it out in time for the holidays.

The holiday buying season is more of a consumer thing. For business, the fiscal year is more important, since IT buyers will often blow their leftover budget money at the end of the fiscal year (if they don't, they lose it).

The timing doesn't work out for a typical US fiscal year, but half of these phones are aimed more at Europe and Asia, where I believe fiscal years tend to end in March/April, so the timing would be perfect for that.

I'm guessing March/April..rule of thumb, as far as I have noticed the trend to be, is 6-8 months after it has been anounced. I do wish they would change that policy - I wish they wouldn't announce it until it was almost ready to hit the streets. As it is now in the industry, we hear about great new phones, then we wait, and wait, and wait some more until it's almost like it's no big deal when they finally do come to market. Sorta makes them seem like "old" phones.
