Same Product, Differnt Package...Looser!
They tried this years ago with the Motorola Atrix. While the docking device was vastly more expensive, the Atrix 2 was not compatible. This makes buying such a device pointless.
I don't see people buying this pad device, when they can buy a stand alone Android tablet for around the same price. If they can guarantee that Asus' next couple of phone upgrades will be compatible, then maybe, but unlikely it will happen.

This is actually a different form factor than that of the Atrix, which btw was not made by ASUS but Motorola.
I find this form factor appealing whereas the Atrix form factor was not.

Yes, I'm aware that they are two different OEMs, but my issue is that the peripheral device becomes obsolete, if you aren't planning to keep your phone for at least three years. The problem, with this form factor is, if Asus follows the same path that Motorola did with the Atrix, it becomes a waist of money. To buy a device like this, it should be able to support future devices. That's where Motorola made their mistake. You had this $400 docking station that only supported one phone.
I guess only time will tell if that will be the case or not.
Just for the record, I didn't have an issue with either form factor, it just needs to make sense to the consumer from a financial basis.

if you go to te website youll actually see the docking station is included so even if you only have it for a year you bought a tabet bascially and a phone for that 200 and thats it, nothing additional
