It wants its phone back. I'm sorry, but I had to say it.
What happened, did someone just realize that these things had been sitting in the back of a warehouse for seven or eight years?

Also with no LTE support, you're stuck on 2007's premier 3G airlink technology. I don't know why telcos continue to release NON-4G devices years after LTE has been in widespread use. It just makes it that much harder to shut down the 3G network and migrate everyone over to LTE.

Are you serious or are you being sarcastic.

Why would you sense any sarcasm from that? I'm serious, I hate this because that's why AT&T is still running its 2G network - because it was selling 2G-only devices long after its 3G network was mature.
It makes no sense to be selling new devices that don't support the latest network layer! It's these devices that will be causing AT&T to keep its "FauxG" network running well beyond 2020... Even though it would be nice to be pure LTE by 2017. I think Verizon and T-Mobile is going to get there a LOT faster...

Becuase I thought that you knew something about wireless technologies. Voice and text is still running on GSM. Not LTE or HSPA. So they can't get rid of their 2g or 3g networks until they get VoLTE which they won't be starting for another couple of months and even then it will be awhile before voLTE is on the entire network.

You are only partially correct. Voice and text works over UMTS/HSPA too. UMTS/HSPA is a 3G technology based on GSM. Voice and text can work fine in the absence of a 2G signal. Please do your research.

I like how you tell people to do their research when you haven't done yours! If you would put just a little bit of thought into why they are selling it you would see that there is a need for this.
For example; parents who don't want their kids to have access to full internet like Instagram, KIK, ect. This saves them $ and lets them have the peace of mind that their wireless bills won't get out of control.

You completely missed the point...
I am not arguing against the functionality of a device that lacks Internet,
My argument is that phone companies should not still be releasing devices whose maximum potential is limited to the old 3G network that will be phased out long before they phase out 4G LTE.
The phone companies need to be phasing out 2G and 3G, not still coming out with new phones that don't support LTE.
Of course, it's just planned obsolescence at its best.
...
you know how bad some companies would be if they just dropped their 3g.

Yes, but don't you know that most operators are skipping 3G in the process of upgrading their 2G networks to LTE? So why keep supporting a dead-end technology? Why keep releasing 3G devices? 4G is the future, and soon we will have 5G, so why keep deploying yesterday's 3G tech.
...
I do, it isn't like a magical system that rolls out and works right away with no bugs everywhere. Why do you think they turn it on one section at a time? Most carriers fased out 2g and will work to fase out 3g when newer tech comes out and is more stable. It isn't just a instant thing.
