Any idea if this phone will ever be available in the US? We're so far behind!

the P990 is really focused on EMEA markets. it uses their 3G standard, and lacks the EDGE that we would need to get any reasonable data speeds here in north america. it is possible sony ericsson could create an hsdpa or quad band EDGE version for the americas, but no such phone has been announced.

also, don't forget that SE north america has recently said they will focus on filling out their mid to low range. last spring SE did tell me that the p910a was selling well in the states through business channels, but i'm not sure the sales were enough to convince the company that this model deserves a US counterpart as well.

I sure hope they offer GSM 850 support and wonder if the P990's BlackBerry-ready status and the current litigation swirling around RIM has something to do with no "a" variant (GSM 850) announcement.
