this is just a disgrace... a Blackberry with a retractable antenna... what is this world coming to???

All iDEN phones have retractable antennas, including all BlackBerrys. It's pretty much required for iDEN technology.

Check out the 6510, 7510, and 7520 - they are all BlackBerrys with retractable antennas.

Well, no, it's not actually required. But the difference in RF performance is substantial enough that it's worth having the antenna out.

The new iDEN blackberry is pretty sweet, several people at work have had test units for awhile now.

This now gives iDEN and CDMA users the option of having the style of the 7100 series. Personally I prefer the normal QWERTY keyboard because e-mailing is noticeably quicker even with the SureType.
However this device is great if you do more calling then e-mailing because dialing numbers with the QWERTY keyboard really sucks. I hope the RF for the iDEN is not based on the i830 model because I feel it is much weaker then the older models (i90, i5😎

i agree. i like the regular blackberry 7520's keyboard then this one.

I'm sure they did wait for it to get to market months ago.. then damned it this model has been out for gsm carriers for a while.

I actually kind of like the dialing numbers on the 7510 I haven't had much trouble at all with it. the thing I'd like about this more is the thinner setting so that it will fit in my hand better
...
