government regulation doesn't work.

>>it would be perverse and unjust for the commission to adopt auction rules that subsidize some large multinational companies at the expense of their competitors.

If in the first place ATT and Verizon hadn't been allowed to grow so large through bad government regulation, the government wouldn't now be looking like a bunch of ass hats as they scamper to find ways to keep T-mobile and Sprint competitive.

But government regulation is nothing more than one piece of hypocrisy laid upon another as they seek to control that which is clearly beyond their control.

The government should bust up the monopolies, deregulate the market, and concentrate on enforcing competition.

It's due to deregulation that these large monopolies grew. We need to break up the large companies and then regulate them so they can't grow any larger.

Really? Bust up the large companies???? Do you have any idea what that would do to not only the economy but people lives? And I'm sure you didn't think about what would stop them from doing this to other industries. Maybe Google is a little too big? Apple? Microsoft? Ford? GM? The list goes on and on!

Yes, the economy would thrive as prices dropped and small businesses were allowed to become competitive. The average standard of living would go up.

Please name an industry that doesn't already have this problem?

>>Maybe Google is a little too big? Apple? Microsoft? Ford? GM? The list goes on and on!

When you think about the sheer number of products on the market, it's actually a pretty short list. Only a handful of companies control most of our commerce. You don't think that's a problem?

I'm pretty read up on the so-called deregulation of the cable industry, and what actually happened is hardly what I would call deregulation. What it boiled down to was taking away the regulations that enforced competition (the only ones the government is even justified in making) and kept the ones that propped up and encouraged large trusts and monopolies. That so-called deregulation was the exact opposite of what free market economists are talking about when they ask for deregulation. But you are correct that it is responsible for creating this mess.
