Yay for consumers! This couldn't possibly be bad.

Time will tell. Direct TV is an amazing company with an even better customer service. The only reason I dropped them last month, its because they don't offer internet service in my area (outside DSL) and Time Warner was going to increase my internet service to $58 a month for 15/2 service 😳 If this means that they will be able to offer more services, I'm all for it.

One would hope but historically what happens is they will lay off most of the Direct Tv employees and replace them with ATT employees so the good customer service will be a thing of the past.

Any time megacorp's merges it only means bad things for consumers, lay off the employees and jack up the prices, since the only reason for a merger is to increase profits and ATT shareholders will want an immediate return on their investment. One would hope but then it is ATT.

I'm pretty sure that AT&T just finished 1st in customer service (JD Power). I have both AT&T and Directtv and in my opinion they both have excellent customer service!

This. I have them for Uverse and cellular and it's been nothing but a dream compared to my old provider (WoW, and *Verizon)

*I acknowledge I've not had Verizon in years, but everytime I went into their store the reps acted like they didn't need or want my business and the call center wasn't much better

First I have AT&T and haven't had any problems with their customer serivce. I have been super happy with them.

Second though, the verizon store employees and their customer service over the phone are two different things. Their customer service over the phone is excellent. The store employees are money hungry losers.

It may not be such a good thing. I have had AT&T wireless and landline in the past, and some of my customers are stuck with their data service for their offices.

In all cases, the customer service has been horrible, so if DirectTV ever provided good customer service, that'll be a fond memory.

Customer service doesn't matter... Til you need it.
