Not being reversible is a feature not a bug

The fact that standard USB is not reversible but needs to be inserted in a particular way is not a bug but a feature. This was done intentionally because it helps to ensure that the port, and USB cable don't wear out faster, why would they get rid of this important feature just to copy Apple? It's absurd.

I don't think they are getting rid of that just to copy apple. Everything is moving towards being streamlined, and easy to use. Even things that seemed a luxury before are now too tough for some whiners to use because they have to reverse a plug, its pretty ridiculous. However, I think this is the way all technology is moving - simplistic design, ease of use. This is just the next evolution, I think this is what it would have looked like even if apple's plug looked totally different.

@Tofuchong

It has been this way since the BEGINNING OF TIME. Since man kind has existed, we have done NOTHING BUT SIMPLIFY LIFE. Why create a car when you have a horse and buggy? Actually, why create a buggy, you have a horse, isn't this good enough for you?! Or are you just a cry baby who can't stand riding on a horses back for hours on end?

Why you people act like you have a moral high ground for wanted complication is beyond me - but it's definitely a trait that a certain German had in the 40's - and it's believing you're better, more intelligent or worthy for MADE UP REASONS AND IDEOLOGIES.

Side note: something is wrong with the quoting - it's turning everything bold automatically and ignoring the HTML commands.

Your conditioning is apparent in your comment; it amounts to nothing but a rhetorical trick, and a FOOLISH ONE, AT THAT.

I think the phrasing you're looking for, rather than 'simplify', is "make convenient to the detriment of those skilled and for the benefit of those unskilled."

It is not what "WE" have done, but rather those who seek to exploit the weaknesses of others for their personal gain.

But what's wrong about making things a bit easier for the little guy, you say?

When we cater to weakness, weakness proliferates itself.

50+ years ago, news editors started trying to "jazz" up the press, to try and make it more appealing for the "everyman".

Now we have fox news and people who literally think that the whole end of ...

Let's take away modern medicine while we're at it - stop catering to those (as you would call it) "weak" people.

Fox News? Really? You're pointing out how bad multi-billion dollar corporations got out of control and OVERTOOK the news - hijacking it and controlling information (mostly to promote their own best interests) - WHAT YOU'RE REFERRING TO IS CALLED CORRUPTION. I do love how you tried to use that as a valid arguing point though, as if it was relevant to begin with.

Anyways Adolf Jr. enjoy your day believing you're somehow superior and more intelligent for turning a cable a certain direction 🙄

That's an extremely bizarre response to my comment pointing out the fact that USB not being reversible was done intentionally and that the lack of reversibility serves an important purpose.

Complication is life. Life is complicated, thats just how it is.

Simple and easy is not always good. You see - if I had the choice between driving around in a big, smooth, expensive automatic car all day, or a dirty, loud, hard-to-handle sports car? I would take the more difficult option.

Same with phones too, as the iPhone would be the easy automatic aproach, which I would avoid.

How about the rest of every day life? You start to make things so easy, so simplistic, that your life lives itself for you. Theres no challenge anymore, theres nothing to strive for.

Once and for all, plugging in a GOD DAMNED cord does not constitute intelligence nor the use of it.

You people keep using these complexed examples as if our society is going to fall apart if all cables are like the lightning cable - when we're talking about something very minute in the grand scheme of things.

You sound like a bunch of morons ASKING - NO - BEGGING for things to be HARDER than they have to be, when this so called "life" we live in has trillions of other possibilities and things we could be doing - simplify it as most as possible and enjoy living your days.

I swear, we have a bunch of mini-stuck-up Hitlers running around believing their Android/computer cables make them superior - and GASP - to take them away an...
