Sounds like spite.

Now he's putting the nails in the coffin himself.

Exactly! This will not hurt T-mobile one bit. Some BB users will leave and others will just look to unlock devices sold by other carriers.

I think it's a good move. It's about time someone shows T-Mobile that they can't say/do what they want without consequences to their actions.

I guarantee you T-Mobile will see no repercussions from this whatsoever, less than .05% of the user base i'd be willing to bet actually still use one.

Has BlackBerry even come out with anything new in 2014 at all?

Well, it was reviewed on Phone Scoop December 5th, so yeah the end of last year.

BlackBerry doesn't really seem to be trying, putting much effort into making progress. This is year #4 that they've been struggling.

Maybe individuals, but not businesses. I've seen 2000 line business accounts where every single device is a blackberry. Business customers will not be happy.

yes but in reality, Blackberry actually producing new models (or lack thereof) really sealed their own fate.

Android an iOS are perfectly suitable replacements for the devices, and i know no IT person who likes dealing with BES, so i'm willing to bet it will not be as big of a deal as one might think.

They will be happy to have better coverage and clear calls.

I doubt anyone will notice anything.

Blackberry needs to turn itself around, not reduce their options.

First of all what BB really said was we know TMO is getting rid of us so we will preempt them to save face and make it look like we are getting rid of them. I like how they say that users can move to another carrier. Like users really care about their devices!

But what Mr. Chen is really saying is TMO is putting a damper on Mr. Chen's ability to pump and dump his BB shares. All the fist pumping from him and have seen nothing but hot air and arrogance. Maybe rather than let things die they actually try to save the relationship! But really RIM is RIP anyways and everyone knows it. Even Obama is looking at alternatives. 😁

So basically Mr. Chen is doing the same thing as Mr. Legere. Pump and dump his stock. The only difference is that people are dumb enough to buy into it with Trash-mobile.

Really dump, especially since TMobile has the best internationally roaming plans and Blackberry only really has a international presence. Users travelling globally are the ones that might find blackberry most appealing. Other than that....everyone is out buying Androids and iPhones on all carries. I doubt this will hurt TMobile, or significantly benefit the other carriers.

I think it could have much more significant consequences to BB than people have yet realized. While BB has a very small customer base, it does still have some customers loyal to it who see it as a viable, and in their minds better, platform. This move creates the expectation that BB will be able to take customers from T-Mobile and move them to other BB friendly carriers. I don't see this happening. Once this is a complete non-event for T-Mobile, it will remove the any doubts that BB is a dead platform. It will hurt BB's image in the minds of its remaining users and it will kill off any limited leverage BB may have left with any of the carriers.
This could be BB's Windows 8. A strategic move they think will make a stand and set them up...

No that would be incorrect. Its Blackberry ecouraging its customer to get with a better carrier. And let's face it T-mobile has no coverage and those customer were probably already thinking about leaving anyways.
