Phonescoop writers:

My deepest thanks for your review of the iPhone.

Right now I use an LG Prada phone under TMO, and I'm NOT under contract with TMO (contract ended in April). I was seriously thinking about buying an iPhone at the end of the month.

Your review did dispel rumors, biggest of which was that the ATT SIM card COULD NOT be removed and used in another phone.

But I am VERY GRATEFUL that your review revealed one thing: that the user cannot install ringtones; and that you're limited to the 25 or so preloaded ring sounds.

My feeling is that for a $500 phone with song capability, it's odd that the iPhone doesn't allow you to assign an uploaded MP3 as a ringer when a certain contact calls.

As innocuous a feature as it ...

The lack of changable ringtones struck me as odd, too... doesn't seem like a difficult thing for Apple to implement, especially compared to the other features found on this phone.

While it doesn't sound like the iPhone has everything you want right now, don't forget Apple has hinted bigtime that this feature is coming soon as a software update to the phone. My guess is that it is going to be a great feature (better than what you have on other phones) once they do impliment it.

actually they have reported that in the next month or so the new iphone update will be bringing a lot in store. One they have found out that there is a simple entry folder to place ringtones in. this means music from your ipod will probably be accessible as your ringtones with this new update...its all software and itll all come in short time

I believe that Apple will release this when and only when they can force you to pay them to do so.

It would just be in line with what apple is like

$5 per ringtone?

Yeah, you'll have to buy them from Apple. But gee... iTunes music store doesn't gouge me for music downloads, or video content. So a ringtone is going to cost me as much as 5 iTunes songs?

I call poetic exageration (that's a nice way of saying 'BS').

And it's not like paying for ringtones/games is nothing new. 😛

👿 Obviously they ( Apple) are going to charge for those features. They want to get to your pocket and you will pay for it. p.s. Not me
