I hope it goes through......the new vision network can do GSM with a simple hotspot of a card in each basestation. The new chairman became number 1 in Japan by doing this very strategy

It's not about what happened with Nextel. It's about an incompetent company with a history failed projects. Nextel, QChat, WiMAX, ridiculously slow LTE deployment due to backhaul issues. A company so incompetent it blames it's failures on AT&T and Verizon so it wants to go to easy route by acquiring another company and therefore removing competition. It's anti-consumer and not in the best interest of the consumer.

Acquiring T-Mobile and merging it's incompatible network will be disastrous on so many levels. CDMA vs GSM, different frequencies, different types of LTE, Sprint uses some weird version of LTE called TD-LTE t...

They will also switch us back to a non-SIM phone standard, which is how they force you to only buy phones they want you to buy (and for an inflated price).

"CDMA vs GSM"

If you're planning on remaining in the past, this would be an issue. They're all moving to LTE and rendering this irrelevant.

"Sprint uses some weird version of LTE called TD-LTE "

Which is better than FD-LTE in many ways. Does it matter to you in some way how this new company's LTE would work?

Nextel made Wimax possible. Wimax was a stopgate for LTE. Sprint had a hard dealine to deploy next gen service or surrender the spectrum to the govt. Wimax was ready to launch and LTE was not so Sprint did Wimax with the knowledge that they would eventually transition to the LTE when it was time. Sprint covers more pop in their LTE then T-mobile does but TM does have superior speeds. But I've been in Spark areas and was blown away by not only the Spark speeds but the LTE speeds as well.

Sprint's network vision is a lie to try and keep customers to wait for something that will never happen. LTE 4G speeds average 1-4mbps on Sprint. in my area T-Mobile averages 15-31mbps. I have to beg the dept of justice to please block this merger.

If softbank buys t mobile, their will be 3 major carriers. the big 3 will join together in raising the prices for calling plans.i do not like sprint, i belieave t mobile has better coverage then sprint. and t mobile is what is making everyone else go down on prices.

How do you know Sprint will raise prices just like the other two?

I think every one is jumping to conclusion! Softbank might get rid of the sprint brand and keep Tmobile.

thats not what i was saing
all 4 give the option to pay full price we all kno that

what im saying is a lot of people dont wanna pay full price for their phone(make installment payments with Next, Edge, Jump) theres still a lot of people that want to be on a 2 yr contract because they dont want a new phone every 6/12/18 months. theyd rather just keep the one they have as long as possible and Sprint and T-Mobile you obviously dont have that option

With the 2yr contract you are still paying for the full price of the phone. Its just rolled into the monthly price of the plan.

not exactly because it all depnds on what plan your on
theres a lot of people that have older plans on att and verizon where theyre not paying anything extra to be on a 2 yr contract and would actually pay more for if they didnt

and actually now that i think about even if you do those installment plans a lot of times you end up paying more if you add it up

It shows how that after your 2 year agreement is up then you are still paying for the subsidy for the phone without having a new phone.

Wouldn't sprint want to get customers from AT&T and Verizon? Why would Sprint lay down and let the big 2 run them out of business? Sprint coverage is far superior than T-mobile. Tmo also can't make money. They last $20 mill last quarter.

Just before the merger, Nextel was making more profit per customer than Sprint was. After the merger, Sprint hemorrhaged customers for a steady 5 years as it blew tons of cash reserves trying to merge the two networks. When that didn't work Sprint released its own version of PTT, which was inferior to Nextel's. Then Sprint dissolved Nextel and PTT was officially dead. The end result was that Nextel (probably the most profitable carrier in its time) died, leaving its customers no alternative for the services they had enjoyed. Also, Sprint at the end was no bigger or more profitable than they were before acquiring Nextel. But they had wasted a lot of time and money and given up a lot of ground to their competitors. Both companies would have be...

You either forgot or weren't around for the merger. Nextel interfered with public safety transmissions. They didn't have the spectrum to fix it even with the government's swap. Someone had to pick them up. It probably shouldn't have been Sprint. Could have been T mobile, but they didn't have the same resources.

What does any of that have to do with how Sprint mismanaged the merger?
