U.S. Gov Says Sprint Overcharged for Wiretaps
Uncle Sam is after Sprint!
I wonder if stuff like this will also add on to the list of negatives of a Sprint/T-Mobile merger aside from the reduced competition in the market.
What do you guys think?
I can tell you first hand that when dealing with the government, state or federal, in cases like this, the presumption of innocence is at least strained. It is often more like a presumption of guilt. The New York cases also makes it likely that other governments/agencies are taking notice, either because of a presumption of widespread wrongdoing or because of what I'll call a 'feeding trough' mentality: if someone else is successful litigating X, then I should try too. In the 7 years I've been with Sprint, I have never been billed for more than I used. In fact, when my Wife was severely injured in an auto accident, Sprint worked with us to make sure we weren't overburdened with bills. We were set up with easy pay billing until we returned to normal income. Would your carrier do this for you?
