A smartwatch with some useful features

The original Gear watches were completely redundant and basically toys for people who love gadgets. I found it absurd that the Gear watch saved people from the trouble of having to take their phone out of their pocket in order to read a text message (and honestly anyone interested in the Gear watch is probably someone who had and continued to have their phone glued to their hand anyway) I guess this is why they were a bit of a flop considering many people love cellphones because they free people from the burden of wearing a watch.

Based on the fact that this device has a 210mah battery, I doubt that it has an internal GPS system that can handle this.. methinks that it would be too much of a burden on that tiny battery.

The last time I got excited about owning / wearing a watch was when I was a little kid, like 20 years ago, and I wanted to make sure I knew what time it was when my family took a 6+ hour flight down to Florida. I haven't even thought about wearing a watch since then, theres just, no need, no use.

A watch is a choice, I have times I need to know the time but can't have my phone or my phones dead. So for me a simple watch works for my need, but I don't see a smart-watch fitting those needs. So it's a choice and personal preference.

Well, since it pairs with the phone I doubt you can use it with out the actual phone. Luckily, the S5 is waterproof and shock proof, so at least it helps a little bit in case you can't leave it behind.
