I like what I am seeing so far. Loosening the reigns a bit is not a bad thing. Allowing more hardware options will attract more hardware manufacturers and allow the price point to be lower allowing Windows Phone to compete more readily with Android.

Now the question that begs to be asked. Will it work? Will it attract more manufacturers? Time will tell.

Agreed and they need to take the same path with RT concerning tablets (remove Office and make it a separate app purchase, this would allow the OS to be cheaper but gives the customer the option to purchase it if they want it thus reaping a higher profit) so people can buy one for less than $200 in that market segment as well.

If MS really wants to compete against both Android and Apple the two areas needed are the low hardware required footprint to run the OS and the ability to install any and all apps on the sd card. I don't consider hardware as critical except in emerging markets since I think all the established markets are going on even dual cores and 1GB or ram for even entry level androids, but ram is critical since it could limi...
