Should have used another phone
I think Motorola and Cingular should have chose the new SLVR L7 or the V8 to use with iTunes. Any thoughts on this?

at least more memory, but it is just the first step.

But why go with transflash when the max size is 512 right now.

I don't get this either. But I don't think design team is that stupid. I believe Apple don't want Moto has bigger memory size to grap the share of iPod.

What else are they going to use for the memory card?
Compact Flash? Secure Digital? The phone would be HUGE! Compare the size of one of those cards, and then add the fact that it has to fit INSIDE the phone, and there you go.
Transflash, although limited in storage size, is TINY compared to any other type of memory. It may have been the only way to keep the phone a reasonable size.

like nokia and their mmc cards, or sony and thier sony cards. they could've made a better choice. they could've put a larger media card in there, but then they would've actually had to design a new phone instead of recycling a year-old phone

The SLVR V8 hasn't been released yet. What they can do is charge top $$$ for the SLVR because of size, and top $$$ for the ROKR for the function. THEN, they can meld the two together and charge top $$$ for the combo. Excellent for the business, bad for the consumer.

The choice to use the E398 actually makes good sense when you think about it.
The 398 had already been out for a while, and was a solid phone, but wasn't a widely adopted model as no carrier had picked it up. It had already recieved FCC approval, had everything necessary for the purposes outlined, and best of all was already available in suitable quantities for carrier testing. This made for a quick launch time, which as we know is NOT typical Moto.
Using the SLVR would have resulted in a much longer launch time and this has already been a rumor for just over a year. Any longer and not only would it not have coincided with Apple's MacWorld convention, but it would have fell out of favor with the public after waiting so long.
