Nope, Texting along with internet usage will jump off the hotspot and onto the network...

in UMA since air interface is through Wi-fi
u alway have a signaling chanal for each mobile
u can also hav GPRS connection.
and for GPRS connection u also hav GPRS signalling SMS is sent using this signalling chanel
