IPCom made a great discovery for routing emergency calls. The way it works is, they take the 911 call and round off the corners so it can slip past all of the other network traffic easier. Apple cannot be allowed to copy this innovation without fair compensation.

My understanding is they patented the precise chamfer plus the addition of a small quantity of "go grease" to allow it move more quickly. No doubt their method for removing traces of the go grease from the atmosphere is also patented and they are waiting to have their legal team file suit against God, at the Vatican Courts, the next time it rains. 😉

No, a patent troll is a company that patents or buys patents for essential processes, makes no effort to bring it to market, and then waits for the industry to mature around it, and then uses that to extort licensing fees.

Apple, on the other hand, created something, brought it to market, patented it, and then sued people who copied it. That may hurt your feelings, but that's not exactly the definition of a patent troll.
