Okay, "kills" might be too strong a word.

Android KitKat 4.4X removes the ability to WRITE to an inserted microSD card. Android considers this "secondary external storage". All File Managers will no longer be able to save or even move items on the microSD card. You can still (for now at least) READ from the microSD card.

Google probably did this because they Hate microSD cards and want to force people to buy their Nexus phones & use their Cloud Storage. 👿
