I really like Google owning Motorola. I don't even know who this other company is and I feel like if they bought Motorola they would just screw the whole thing up. I didn't realize that Google was losing money or not making as much as they would like. Who knows what Google wants from owning Motorola as far as money goes Personally I don't think Google is using Motorola as well as they should. Google should have all they're Nexus phone made by Motorola and the Nexus phone should be made in a way that would raise the bar every time its released. I mean imagine if the Moto X was the Nexus phone this go around. Making that phone the current Nexus and toping out the hardware would have definitely had other companies playing catch up and mimicking...

Google buying Motorola was a huge flop. Everyone thought some globalist corporation like Google buying them would make Motorola a mega success, but it's been anything but. It's like Google was too inept to run Motorola and had no direction-except to copy Apple with it's X phone. They copied the iPhone from the irremovable battery to no SD storage. Google delayed rolling out pretty much everything and didn't roll out Ice Cream Sandwich to several phones they promised to. No, Motorola was a better company before Google bought them. Google pretty much ruined them and now they are going to dump them on someone else. Maybe they'll stop focusing on making phones almost exclusively for Verizon once and for all. Guess that goes to show some ...

Really? I don't know what ales metrics you looked at, but people were lined up none-deep for the Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr M, Droid Razr Maxx HD, Droid Razr HD, Droid 4, Droid 3, Droid 2.....

Well, the ales I drank were delicious, but almost every phone you mentioned is/was only available on Verizon. What kind of company limits their distribution to just one carrier (Verizon)? Moreover, many of those popular phones you mentioned were sold before Google bought them out. Under Google the only new phone they developed was the X Phone which was just a mid range phone. Motorola was very poorly managed under Google and I think Google never intended on keeping Motorola for very long from the get go. They just wanted the patents and now they are ready to unload Motorola. It's not the first nor will it be the last time some giant corporation dupes the public.

The Moto X was actually a very good phone. Motorola probably would have done very well under Google. But, like you said they probably just wanted those patents.

LOL the Moto X is a midrange phone. It was top tier and competed greatly in speed and functionality of the S4.

You know what irritates me the most about Google's buyout of Motorola? When time came to make a new Nexus phone, who did they get to make it? The very manufacturing company they own? No, LG.

Seriously....what the hell Google? What's the point of owning a hardware company if you don't even bother to make use of it?

I think it's become clear Google never intended on keeping the cell phone company they bought to distribute the cell phone operating system they invented. Makes total sense right? That's why they went to other manufacturers to develop new models. It would be like GM buying Firestone and then using Goodyear tires on their cars.

Well Lenovo makes good hardware and seem to be serious about wanting to get into mobile, so maybe they will actually DO SOMETHING with the Motorola brand.....

Lenovo, like Microsoft, was previously rumored to be considering buying Blackberry.....Blackberry and Lenovo would have been a good match too.

Yes of course they wouldn't use Motorola to make Nexus phones. They made the X instead which is a great phone. Google needs the other manufacturers to be happy so that Google can have android on more devices. Google would lose tons of money if only Motorola made Android phones. Google makes no money from Android directly.
