Blackberry is like a dying old Lion

They are thrashing in the dirt, pooping out any last ditch effort to stay alive. These updates sound fine, but a better update, instead of the OS, would be how they partnered with many companies to bring thousands of better apps to their phones.

Why the heck are you pooping? Easy target? Your response is a cliche.

Some people don't care about the ability to play the latest re-iteration of fruit ninja.

Some people use their phones as phones.

BBos is actually very good for, you know, the main purpose of a phone?

Well no one is buying their phone's,and yeah they work for the main purpose of a phone they work just like my Samsung t139. They can make and recive calls LOL
We are talking about SmarthPhone's here, they are running out of business, these OS updates don't seem to be getting anyone's attention.
Sooner or later we will see BlackBerry as a dead OS.

Are you paid to bash BB on forums?

Cause your information is inaccurate.

It's actually Apple's business that is slowing down, and BB is excellently postured against Android (for those users who aren't, uh, thirteen and with a boner for games).

No, I work for T-Mobile and only 3% of our customer use BB and that number is decresing (And that because that 3% most of them are bussines account).
If you look into any other carrier the numbers would also be very simililar, you must be on drugs if you think BB has anything to compete even with WIndowsPhone's.
Where you getting your number's from?

Do you work for BB that's why your so Upset about people commenting on their failures?

But who the %&$# cares about US retail figures? Here's the breaks - nobody cares about the US market anymore. It's broke and saturated.

Jamaica. People LOVE BB there.

Still, even if BB's not the most used device it still has sufficient market share to invest in.

Could I get a market where they actually lead in sales? Their dying bro, I don't know why we are even commenting about this.

They're NOT dying. In the US market, yes, I agree. Globally, it's a different story.

BB still leads the market for businessmen and security, BB offers more than just phones. Again, even if they're not leading the market, their share is still worth fighting for.

Take in mind that they're a business, as long as there's profit they'll keep up, like any given company. As a company leader, wouldn't you be interested in obtaining a bigger share? That's what they're doing, and they're still nailing it in a few areas. I don't really see what's so wrong about a company making a final effort for their loyal customers. Isn't that what we'd like from ours?

Can you name a country where Apple is leading in sales? Guess it's time for Apple to just give up,

Bottom line is that you can't expect a company to just fure all their employees, screw over all their investors and shut down. Blackberry has a moral, and a legal responsibility to their investors and their customers to try to keep going for as long as they can. If they were to actually do as you say and just give up and shut down, they would be liable to massive lawsuits by their investors who would say, quite rightly, that they poured BILLIONS of dollars into the company to try to turn it around and then they turned around and gave them the shaft squandering all their money.

My question is why are so eager to turn everything over...

Agreed! Personally, I happen to like WP, but I want BlackBerry to succeed, too. I use to own a BlackBerry, and like you, I want to see more viable choices. I hope BlackBerry and WP both do very well in the future, because I'm about tired of everything being catered to Android and Apple. Nothing against them, but four options would be nice.

it is always nice to see companies update their software.

And the Apple Mac has about 5% market share....so why doesn't Apple just give up?

Market share doesn't matter for squat if you don't have a good profit margin. Look the domestic auto manufacturers, Ford, GM, Chrysler, their market share is fine, the problem is that they can't make a product that can generate a profit. They may sell 10 million cars a year, but it doesn't do them any good if each one sells at a loss.

What matters isn't market share, which isn't relevant anyway given the fact that the market is expanding...3% of today's market is more than 90% of the market would have been in 2002.

What matters is profitability.

Incorrect, sir.

You seem to be self-centered. Not everyhting is about the US market, BB still sells pretty well overseas, which is sufficient for them to keep updating and releasing new products, etc.
It's what keeps them in the game.

True, in the US the ir market share is slim, but fortunately thei didn't placed all their eggs in one basket. Hopefully they can make a good comeback someday.

BlackBerry has 2.8 billion in cash, has zero debt and just sold 80,000 BlackBerry 10 units to the US Dept of Defense. BBM going cross platform has been a total success and should have been done years ago, but was held back by shortsightedness BlackBerry 10 has an image problem in the US, not a financial problem. This is, of course, self inflicted. By continually marketing to the corporate image and not the kids like Apple and Google have, US sales have slumped. Abroad, BlackBerry 10 is doing quite well. While BlackBerry has managed to shoot themselves in the foot more than a few times, the company is far from dead. A few short years ago, WP7 was the butt end of a joke. Now, Microsoft is making a big push. Microsoft was able to stick around a...

DOD did not purchase 80,000 BB10 devices. The DOD even dispelled that rumor of purchasing any BB phones.
