These are Dans words when he spoke about AT&T's proposed purchase of T-Mobile. Couldn't the same be said about putting too much power in the hands of 3? They will essentially be swallowing up another company and taking options away from US consumers. I don't care which way you slice it, if Sprint is allowed to purchase T-Mobile I will lose all faith (only a little left) in our system as it promotes double standards and is truly not doing what's best for us consumers!

Well, was thinking about going to T-Mobile, but not if the Bozo's at Sprint take them over. They will ruin an up and coming player in our mobile market. Sprint screws up everything it touches, and then cries to the government afterwards on just "how unfair" it is.

Sprint isn't buying T-Mobile, Soft Bank is. Soft Bank has yet to influence sprint in any real capacity yet.

That may not quite be the case, while terribly named, the new Framily plans are highly innovative in their structure. One can't know for sure how long it was being developed before it's launch but it seems like it would take fresh blood to come up with the idea in the first place.

Been hearing about the next great thing from Sprint since like before 2007, too late for them. Maybe T-Mobile doesn't have the subscriber base, it never did from the inception but the gap is narrowing. I do see improvements all around me with T-Mobile, I don't see squat at all from Sprint.

Exactly and that's the problem with Sprint. They seem to come up with good ideas but fail to properly execute them. Like Legere says, they're just a pile of spectrum waiting to be turned into a capability.

Where I live, The network vision project has been off to a start for the last month and a half. Dropped calls have been off the charts making the transition from the old network to the new one very frustrating and painful. However, as 3G has moved to 4G in many areas, my house once had 2 bars of 3G and now has 4 bars of 4G service. This means I have twice the signal and the speeds coupled with consistency, have improved immensely.
Hatred can consume a proper thought process. Whatever your perception of Sprint's adequacy, Sprint's network is evolving very nicely with the rollout.

Personally, I'm not herendesly excited about this, but the truth is it will result in an immensely powerful LTE-A network at some point, and hopefully coverage for both companies.
T-Mobile has fabulous speeds NOW, Sprint continues to be in the process of obtaining better speeds.
Is Sprint's LTE network even better than the 5x5 mgz I heard?
Tmo will be deoloying 20x20 Wideband LTE throughout 2014, which I am very, very excited about, I heard speeds of 70-110mbps have been obtained in Dallas.
Personally, I'm not herendesly excited about this, but the truth is it will result in an immensely powerful LTE-A network at some point, and hopefully coverage for both companies.

Yes, read up on Sprint Spark. It is currently available in a handful of markets. I happen to be one of the lucky few that lives in one. I have Tmobile now and compared to my Buddy who has Sprint Spark Capable phone I get smoked...

50-60 mbps is what he gets right now. I get 6-8mbps now on Tmobile using a Note 2. When Tmobile first got 4G LTE in my area I was pushing 15 to 25Mbps not anymore.

Tmo covered 209 million with LTE in only 8mo's.
Sprint intends on covering HALF that with Spark in 12 months of 2014. That's all there is to know that Sprint lacks ambition, they certainly have money, the $20bln they got from Softbank, that doesn't seem to be doing anything, at least not on the same scale as covering 209 million with LTE in 8mo's.

Exactly Slammer! The transition phase has been rough but the LTE is super fast. Haven't had a drop call in forever, and I still have my unlimited no throttle data plan. I'm happy I didn't jump ship and now I doubt I ever will. My plan is still less than T-mobile's when you factor in the device financing cost. So I'm perfectly happy on Sprint!

I have to say, I was reluctant to stay with Sprint because of all the issue with service and mainly no 4G in my area in Louisiana, but in the last 8 - 10 months, I went from only 4G in like 2 - 3 areas in southeast Louisiana to about only 2 - 3 areas with no 4G service. The 3G is awful honestly, but the 4G improvements have be steady and going well. They may be getting things together to compete finally.

Thankfully there are a few more barriers than I had previously thought of listed, so let's hope that they can't agree on the structure of the deal to begin with. I fear that FCC regulators would give this deal a pass because the total subscriber base of the new company would still be smaller than either AT&T or Verizon and have less spectrum, so I have to hope that they won't even figure out a deal in the first place.
Still, this "proposed" merger is an indicator of everything that is wrong with the industry right now: the smaller companies getting gobbled up faster and faster by the giants, and less innovation and competition being the norm. This is just a case where #3 and #4 want to tie up to make something almost as big as either #...
