It's not in the best interest for the consumer. Having only 3 major players in the industry not good. The combined company would own way too much spectrum some of it would have to be divested.

Too many different technologies, bands. So much confusion and chaos. You can count on layoffs for sure. The only reason why the japs want this is because they feel threatened by T-Mo. Just the old eliminate the competition play. Feds won't approve it, Verizon and AT&T will c*ck block it.

In a perfect world, T-Mo could purchase US Cellular. They already own similar spectrum. The CDMA to GSM transition wouldn't be that hard. They could just leave the CDMA alone for a bit just like they did with MetroPCS.

That actually sounds like a good idea. How much do you think it would cost to buy US Cellular? Do Tmo & US Cellular share any frequencies, kind of like how Tmo & Metro shared the 1700 frequency. . .

They probably don't have the money and I don't think US Cellular is up for sale but you know that 700MHz A block T-Mo just bought from Verizon only covering certain markets? US Cellular owns most of the rest of it with C-Spire having a chunk in the south and Cricket owning just the Chicago market. I dont know but it does make you think about what T-Mo's future plans are. US Cellular does have the missing pieces of the puzzle. I leave Cricket and C-Spire out cause AT&T bought Cricket and they were trying to buy C-Spire I think. I

While I am distrusting of consolidation, I'd much rather see this than the AT&T Mobile merger we almost had. Face it, Deutch Telekom doesn't want to operate in the U.S. This is the best of several rough options I suppose, Maybe Google could step in and make a bid for T-Mobile...
