Has there been any HTC device launched in the last 2 years that didn't feel like a red-headed stepchild 6 months after ownership? The OneX was supposed to be their "We're gonna do things right" flagship, and the OneX+ was supposed to be the supercharged follow-up.

If they can't keep these updated through the life of a contract, what can they get right?

Just some perspective:
The iPhone 4S launched over 24 months ago and is still supported with the latest software updates. Not all features have trickled down, but the core API's, etc. have.

The HTC One X+ Launched 14 months ago, was abandoned in under 12 months. As a result, the iPhone 4S is worth about 5 times what an HTC One X+ is if you do a trade-in nowadays.

This is even more...

Actually yes. I had the HTC Thunderbolt and it was very good. Now I have the HTC One/M7 and I love it. I'm just waiting for AT&T to release the HTC One Max. But the best HTC phone that a lot of people like or did like is the:

HTC Inspire/Desire
HTC Thunderbolt
HTC Vivid
HTC Incredible 1 & 2
HTC Evo 3D/ EVO 4G LTE

I have only owned two HTC devices, the HTC Sensation and the HTC My Touch. The only reason I purchased those phones HTC Sense. Ever since Android came out with ICS there is no reason to get HTC Sense.

The Reasons I do not purchase HTC anymore are:

Built in battery.

no expandable memory

the aluminum design

I do not blame the OS. There are always ROM's you can download and Root your phone with the latest software.

My only question why would anyone buy a phone that has the battery built in and no expandable memory... makes no sense to me.

With its completely locked down bootloader, the One was a bitch to root if you didn't get one with the earliest bootloader (1.8, I think it was). The trade was that a LARGE percentage of those early ones were broken (wifi antenna). Hell, even cyanogenmod stopped bothering to develop for it.

My HTC ONE has 32GB. So why would I need expandable memory that breaks all the time? Why would I need or want a removable battery. I charge my phone every night. Any previous phone that I purchased I never had an extra battery. The Aluminum design is amazing on the HTC ONE.

And this really has nothing to do with the iPhone, but thanks for revealing your bias once again.

While I love my XDA homies, they tend to pride themselves on sometimes half-@$$, barely operating phones. To an XDA-phile, random reboots are considered "normal." Even the most solid of custom roms usually have bugs. I'm running CM10.3 right now because CM11 isn't stable enough on my phone. And even CM 10.3 isn't 100% compatible. I get weird hidden sender messages all the time. Only to discover it's an actual text that CM couldn't decipher the sender of (I use AT&T Messages to fill in the blanks).

What is the update going to do for the One xl? Have you seen an iPhone 4 or 4s with iOS 7 on it? Its not worth it. Its so slow its barely usable.

The reason why the iPhone trade-in is worth more is because its an Apple product. People will pay more for Apple.
