Why preload it? If we want to add an app, we know where the Play Store is. Any time I hear an app will be preloaded I already know that means it will be un-installable.

If you're concerned about bloatware, then get a Nexus device. Otherwise if you're buying carrier branded equipment, then you just have to tolerate the modifications they male to it. That may be annoying but it is the price of getting that subsidy. If that's a deal breaker for you, get a Nexus device, those are the best Android devices anyway if you ask me.

Or if you are up to the challenge, root it and remove all the bloatware. Its becoming easier and easier to do it.

I already have my HTC One rooted and ROM'd. I'm talking about the other 99% that don't. There is a difference between having carrier apps preloaded and non-carrier apps preloaded. Trials of games, shorcuts to optional services, and the like take a good chunk out of some phone memories. Even when not used they run in the background again taking phone resources. How few people actuall pay additional for say at&t or Verizon's subscription based navigation instead of using the free Google Maps? I'm going to guess less than a tenth of a percent. Yet both still run in the background taking up resources.

I doubt this is going to change anytime soon. Carriers/makers get a good chunk of money for the bloatware, and I'm sure LG is not preloading this as a favor to Blackberry. Even when phone subsidy is over, we are still going to see bloatware, and even buying unlocked phones you get all of the manufacturer's crap on it, even nexus phones with all the google crap on it that I will never use.

I had a Nexus (Nexus S) and even that I loaded a different ROM on it, some flavor of AOKP if I recall. I'm mainly thinking of the normal, non-power user such as my wife. She's not a bell and whistles or multi-app person like myself. She has a Stratosphere (YIKES!) and only cares to have a few games and Facebook. Half of her phone is stuff she won't use like previously mentioned. Her phone is slow because of it. There is very little development unfortunately so up-to-date rooting instructions are hard to come by... that and she is reluctant to do anything to her phone like I am. I just figure if you can get the full free version of something, don't have it pre-loaded.

Nexus phones have a bunch of Google apps on them that you might never use, but you can remove them. Same thing with the Blackberry services on a Blackberry, sure you might not use them, but most of them can be removed easily. Blackberries also come with a bunch of messaging apps that I never use, AIM, Google Talk etc I just remove them.
So I guess I've never thought that bloatware was a big deal...I've never had any difficulty removing the apps that I don't want.

You can't remove google apps without rooting the phone. You can remove updates, but not the apps like Currents, Drive, Earth, Google+, Hangouts, Keep, News & Weather, Photos, etc.
