it sure looks that way, and in the past, Qtek has only sold rebranded HTC units, so i'm pretty sure that's the case.

Qtek does not manufacture any of their own phones so far. they simply brand phones from ODM such as HTC. They use HTC as the exclusive provider for Windows Mobile devices. we are always sure to include htc's code name when entering their smartphones in our database. we usually include a few of the other names the phone will sell under, however we rarely include qtek as they have not been imported into the states very much, and until now, they only launched european tri-band devices.

Siemens and Audiovox have every right to take credit for these devices. They are the companies that released them to the US. HTC does not sell the phones themselves. It is always through a outside vendor. ie Imate, QTek, Orange, Audiovox, Dopod to name a few. HP buys devices through them, I also believe the Treo 650 was developed and built by them.

so if all these devices were developed and built by HTC, what copyright does Audiovox/UTstarcom have, exactly? I know this is just how the industry works, i just dislike both audiovox and siemens (the 2 who take HTC's credit here in the US)

Taking credit? Paul.. you have to realize that most products sold in stores are not made from that company. It is the same with any business. I understand your point... but look at it like this. Parts to make televisions (lets say an HDTV) are manufactured from different companies, etc and sometimes are made seperately from the company as well while sometimes the company takes every single little part manufactured by other companies and just assembles it themselves. This is how business works.

The thing is... they aren't really taking credit for it. The people who know and care ... know and care. 99% of people who don't know just don't care. "HTC made the Treo? Oh thats BS." I doubt I will ever see that happening.

Just my 2 cents.

It is actually the upgrade to the Hurricane. The code name is the HTC Tornado...

The hurricane doesn't have WiFi and is branded as the C550 in Europe right now. This will have likely be branded as the C600 in Europe although it isn't known who the US branding will be through.
