If they had kill switches, how many people would use it to screw over other people? Get a phone somewhere, turn around and sell it, after you get the cash, hit the kill switch.

There are so many things wrong with the idea that no explanation for carrier opposition to the idea is really necessary. And honestly, the law is unenforceable. So.....New York state will require that phones sold in their state be different from those sold in the other 49? Really? And they think that manufacturers are going to be willing to manufacture a special 'New York Edition' of every phone? Not likely. And if they do, the cost is going to be ridiculous., this regulation could easily add as much $500 to the cost of every phone. High end phones will cost over $1000. Anyone who would pay that much for a phone is a moron. Which means that people living in New York will start smuggling in phones from other states because they will b...
