AT&T Intros Mobile Share Value Plans for Less Green
Confused with new pricing
How are these value plans if the price goes up? 1GB is currently $40 and 2GB is $50, the article says will be $45 and $55 and so on. If "so on" and that rate means goingup in thoes increments that would mean my current 10GB plan at $120 would be $135.

I think, what isn't mentioned in this article, is that the per-smartphone cost is dropping. Note that at 300 MB, it's $40 per smartphone now. Before, it was $50. At 1 and 2 GB, it was $45, so that's probably $35, then at 10 GB it's probably $20 if that trend continues...

Guys, you need an accounting degree to figure these plans out. AT&T offered me a handy graphic that compares everything, but I'm not allowed to publish it.

So what I"m understanding now, and I could be wrong, is that the data bucket prices are not changing but the cost per line is what's changing based on contract and AT&T Next status. ????

Ok I am an ATT rep and the new plans break down as such:
300mb..20.00
1Gb...45.00
2GB...55.00
4GB...70.00
6GB..80.00
8GB...90.00
10GB...100.00
and all plans above 10Gb are much cheaper now
and a CONTRACTED smartphone is 40.00 all levels
Basic, full retail...bring your own..and ATT Next Smartphones are 25.00 on all levels
device prices stay the same.
So thats the breakdown, OK?

Actually even the prices on those 1 GB and 2 GB plans are lower if you add it up. Smartphones on those two plans were $45 per phone, where they were $40 on all of the plans higher than that.
While the price of the data bucket on each of those two does go up $5, The price of each smartphone you add drops by $5 PER LINE to $40 from $45.
So if you have only one line, you pay the same. If you have two or more lines then your bill does go down, even though the price of the shared bucket goes up.
