Another Point Made.

While so called "High End" phones are eliminating removable batteries and expandable SD Slots, we have lower priced devices with respectable specs that allow us to augment our needs.

I'm telling you. The industry is backwards. It should be the high end phones that allow more versatility. Not the other way around. Is anyone else seeing this absurdity?

The Nokia Lumia 1520 appears to be a somewhat high end device. It has microSD capability but no removable battery.

The Jolla device has "The Other Half" to allow for mating to the device anything from an additional battery to a Cuisinart, as long as it has the same I2C interface. It also has a microSD slot and a user replaceable battery.The Jolla device appears to be somewhat high end.

The market is moving and, if looking, one can find a mix of hardware and software features at many different points in the market.

Yes, I see it too. But lets not forget that the Galaxy Note 3 (hands down highest end phone on the market) has a removable battery and SD slot. More companies should take after Samsung's lead instead of Apple's.

Hence, why I purchased a Samsung product after years of supporting other companies. My bone of contention is that even tech sites across the web such as this one, seem to celebrate eliminating consumer control in favor of manufacturer manipulation to control every aspect of the end user's experience. Consistently, embarking on a quest to push all metal construction at the sacrifice of eliminating expandable memory and removable batteries. I say give us metal AND easy accessibility without sacrifice. As it stands, no one seems to be fighting for equal balance.

This brings up the point that PCs always allowed for swapping hard drives, memory, video cards etc. A high end device such as today's phones are powerful enough to allow a person to ...

Could be that this and other sites are being sponsored by phone manufacturers?
(Or at least getting their cut from them.)
