We understand?

"""We understand that many passengers would prefer that voice calls not be made on airplanes.....""

Yes, because as soon as you press the "Send" button on your phone, the plane EXPLODES. It's 100% true people, I saw it in a Rage comic.

These are archaic beliefs. I understand that lots of confused or misinformed people would prefer that voice calls not be made on airplanes becuase they think that in every situation, something bad will happen that will result in their deaths. These people need to educate themselves.

I think you missed the point on this. The reason many people don't like the idea of phone usage on planes is because it's an incredible annoying to have the person next to you yammering away while you try to ignore them. It's not like you can get up and leave the plane. I hope the airlines realize this and act accordingly.

If that was true, then there would be no cell phones in: Parks, on Busses, in Trains, on Subways, on Streetcars, in Taxis, in Limos, etc etc.

You aren't buying a ticket to be bathed in silence for the duration of your flight. It's quite the opposite, as you know jet engines are loud. Your ticket is for transportation.

I like your idea, however, maybe a separate class should be created on the planes for individuals who want to ensure nobody is using a cell phone around them. However, I wouldn't - that is expecting too much. This is the year 2013 and there are 6+ billion people on Earth. Having those kinds of expectations are just unrealistic today.

How is it any different than listening to an inane conversation between two passengers?

I wouldn't mind it. If I had the legal right to punch someone as hard as I can in the face if they set their ringtone to max volume in a crowded plane (or bus, or anything else) and then proceed to text furiously. There's no reason for that, use the ****ing vibrate or just hold the phone and look at the screen if you get a text every minute.

I'm not worried about the technology of using the phone, its just going to be annoying.

No. It's not. They had best not allow this to happen. Period.

Damn, the plane blowing up. I don't want to be sitting next to some guy or gal going on about their nothing life the entire flight. MAYBE allow text messaging, but voice? Hell no. If they do, someone is going to blow his lid and strangle someone a mile high. Bets.
