Carriers Are Screwed

Sprint is definitely screwed and will have regulation after regulation put on them in terms of pricing and service contracts. They have been lowering their advertisement from "Fastest Network" and "Up to 3.1mbps" to "Up to 2.5mbps" to "600kbps" to now "300kbps for 3G speed" and "3-6mbps 4G speed" Which as we all know, NONE of this is 3G or 4G speed.

T-Mobile will also be hit, because while their network is FAST, it sure isnt as fast as they claim in their advertisements pitting it against AT&T.

Verizon has failed completely, it no longer is the nations fastest as seen by recent speed tests.

AT&T unfortunately, while still not as fast as they claim, hits numbers closer to what they advertise than any other carrier, followed closely ...

Well considering anything 400kbps+ is technically 3G, Sprint should be fine, and according to the FCC anything that's "substantially faster" can be called "4G", so their speed claims usually fall in line.

on Sprint's LTE i can usually pull ~10Mbps and on 3G since network vision is almost complete here i get around 1-2Mbps all the time.

I'll take that as unlimited compared to blasting through a few GB of data on Verizon and AT&T.

Here in metro Chicago they have been wallpapering Sprint's bright yellow "10X Faster Than 3G"all over the place.

Sales insists NV is completed.

Honest Tech Support reps state that Network Vision fiber optic backhaul and new microwave equipment installation will probably not be complete in metro Chicago until mid 2014.

The typical speeds I see on 4G LTE in the Northwest Burbs...near OHare...are 4 mb/s downloads, with 60 ms latency.

However when capacity is low, during peak hours, I'll often get only 3G speeds of 200 kb/sec with latency around 110 m/sec.

That is unacceptable even as 3G.

(Curiously in Milwaukee where they haven't lit up 4G, I saw 3G speeds of 2 mb/sec.)

The vast majority of consumers have no idea of the dif...
